Resonators (Hominursus hominursus), also known as the Raccoon Bear and Resonator Bear, is one of the five descendants of the American Black Bear and the only descendant of the Summit Bear alive on Ursusia.
Taxonomy[]
As a result of descending from the Summit Bear, its opposable thumbs have now become more akin to raccoon claws, hence their alternative name of the Raccoon Bear. Now almost exclusively bipedal, Resonators use their claws to grab fruit, vegetables and animals and rip them apart, using their nails to further strengthen their grip. Most interestingly, they have begun using incredibly primitive tools to get prey they normally have trouble reaching. This has led to the possibility of the Resonator filling the niche humans fill on Earth.
Resonators get their name from the wide range of vocalizations that they are capable of making, almost like a primitive form of communication that seems like it's becoming more articulate in a similar vein to human speech. However, they incorporate biting in their language to represent anger or frustration.
